Pcom Phones ringing when user not called/dialed

Description:

This article will show you how to do the following:

  • Troubleshoot issues where a Polycom phone users phone rings when someone else in the office is called

Methods:

Polycom phones have a ringtone feature/option called "Attendant" ring. If this ringtone is set, any user that is setup as a BLF on that phone will cause that phone to ring when the user gets a call.

IE: I have Kyle setup as a BLF, if a call comes in that would not normally ring my phone, but I have Kyle set as a BLF/Speed dial, my phone would ring the entire time that Kyle's phone does.

  1. Press Menu on the Polycom IP phone.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Basic.
  4. Select Ring type, in this case "Attendant".
  5. Set the ringtone to "Silent" You can listen to the Ring types first before selecting your preferred type.
  6. Save the settings.
