How To - Provision Polycom Phones

Skype for Business:

Some Polycom phones have this feature on them and needs to be disabled by doing the following.

  1. Navigate to Advanced in the settings area.
  2. Select Networking and set the profile to Generic.

Moving Phones from one account to another:

When moving a phone from one account to another, make sure to remove the phone from the old account AND you will need to contact Audian Support to have a new configuration setup for the phone.

Methods:

 Web UI Method

Description: This method is the easiest way to provision a phone by collecting the IP address of the phone, logging into it from a web browser, and configuring the phone from its GUI.

  1. Get the phones IP address using the following method.
    1. IP Series: Press Menu>2>2>1 on the phone.
    2. VVX Series: Press Home>Settings>4>1>1 on the phone.
  2. Open a web browser and in the address bar type in HTTPS://<IP address>.

    Newer firmware versions will require HTTPS:// to access the GUI. 

    You may get a page saying the address is not secure, click Advanced>Take me there anyways.

  3. Enter in the login credentials.
    1. Username: admin
    2. Password: 8446116110 OR 456 if the Polycom is in a default state.
    3. If the above passwords do not work, contact Audian support.
  4. Scroll over the Settings drop-down tab.
  5. Select Provisioning Server.
  6. Set the Server Type to HTTP.
  7. Set the Server Address to q.audian.com/p/"account string".
  8. Delete the contents in Server User and Server Password.
  9. Click on DHCP Menu and set Boot Server to Static.
  10. Click the Save button.

 Manual Method (directional pad)

Description: This method is the hardest way to provision a phone by collecting the IP address of the phone, logging into it from a web browser, and configuring the phone from its GUI.

  1. Navigate to the Settings option by pressing the Home button or Menu button on the phone.
    • From Boot screen, when Initializing Please Wait appears, press Cancel, enter Admin Password when prompted.
  2. Select 2-Advanced with the directional pad or press 2 on the number pad.
  3. Enter the phone password.
    1. Audian Password: 8446116110
    2. Default Password: 456
  4. Select 1-Administration Settings with the directional pad or press 1 on the number pad.
  5. Select 1-Network Configuration with the directional pad or press 1 on the number pad.
  6. Select Provisioning Server with the directional pad.
  7. Set the Server Type to HTTP.
  8. Set the Server Address to q.audian.com/p/"account string".
    1. Notice on the screen a→1A this button toggles between numbers, letters.
      • a→1A: Lowercase letters
      • A→>a1: Uppercase letters
      • 1→Aa: Numbers
      • *= period (.)
      • #= /
  1. Delete the contents in Server User and Server Password.
  2. Press the << soft key button to go back and select DHCP Menu.
  3. Set the Boot Server to Static.
  4. Press the << soft key until the phone prompts to save the changes.
  5. Select the Save and Reboot option and the phone will reboot.
 Manual Method (Touch Screen Phone)
  1. Factory reset the phone by following the instructions here.
  2. Hit Cancel.
  3. The phone will reboot and display a countdown timer on the screen.
  4. Press Setup during the countdown. 
    1. IF it is missed, Unplug the phone from power, plug it back in, and then press setup during the countdown.
  5. Type in the password 456 and press OK.
  6. The screen will display the menu navigation controls.
    1. Headset Icon: Up
    2. Speaker Icon: Down
    3. Volume - icon: Left
    4. Volume + icon: Right
  7. Press the Setup button.
  8. Press Select while Provisioning Server is highlighted (Provisioning Server is highlighted by default).
  9. Select DHCP Menu.
  10. Highlight Boot Server.
  11. Press Edit.
  12. Scroll Up and select Static.
  13. Press Ok.
  14. Press Exit.
  15. Highlight Server Type.
  16. Press Edit.
  17. Scroll Up and select HTTP.
  18. Press Ok.
  19. Highlight Server Address and press Edit.
  20. Type in the server address: The String Provided To you By Audian.
    1. Notice on the screen a→1A this button toggles between numbers, letters.
      1. a→1A: Lowercase letters
      2. A→>a1: Uppercase letters
      3. 1→Aa: Numbers
  21. Press Ok.
  22. Press Edit while Server User is highlighted.
  23. Press - to delete all of the letters and leave it blank.
  24. Press Ok.
  25. Press Edit while Password is highlighted.
  26. Press - to delete all of the letters and leave it blank.
  27. Press Ok.
  28. Press Exit.
  29. Press Exit again.
  30. Highlight Save and Reboot.
  31. Press Select.
