Description:

Quality of Service (QoS) is an advanced feature that prioritizes internet traffic for applications, VOIP service, Ethernet LAN ports, or specified MAC addresses to minimize the impact of busy networks.

SIP ALG (Session Initiation Protocol Application Layer Gateway) is common in many commercial routers. It prevents some of the problems by inspecting VoIP traffic (packets) and if necessary modifying them. By default NETGEAR routers have SIP ALG turned ON.

This links below will show you how to do the following:

  • Enable/Disable QoS and SIP ALG settings for NETGEAR routers

After changing QoS or SIP ALG settings, it is recommended that you restart your router, as well as any effected PC/Phone.
