Description:

This article will show you how to do the following.

  • Factory Reset a Polycom device

Methods:

  Polycom Web UI Method

This method only works for phones with the Polycom firmware v4.0.9.0509 or higher.

  • 4.0.9.0509 has a grey and black UI.
  • SIPIP is black and red and does not support this method.

  1. Locate the phone's IP address using the following method.

    1. IP Series: Press Menu>2>2>1 on the phone.

    2. VVX Series: Press Home>Settings>4>1>1

  2. Open a web browser and type in the IP address.

    1. Select Admin

    2. Password: 8446116110

      • 456 (This is the default Polycom password.)

  3. Click Utilities at the top.

  4. Select Phone Backup & Restore.

  5. Click Global Settings.

  6. Click Restore.

  7. Click Yes to restore to factory settings.

  8. The phone will then factory reset and reboot.

  9. Click here to provision the phone.

 Polycom Manual Method

This method can take a few tries in order to be successful. If you do not see the "Enter Password" screen try again.

Polycom VVS Series

  1. From the Main Idle Screen (Where you can make a call) Hold down the buttons relating to the phone model listed above until it beeps or says "Enter Password"
    • Models: VVX 300, 310, 400, 410, 500, 600: Press the 1, 3, and 5 dial pad keys
  2. Make sure no Asterisks are on the screen, indicating that characters had already been typed in for the password.
  3. If there are asterisks on the screen, press the << softkey on the screen to delete them.
  4. Type in the password 456 and press Enter.
  5. Click here to provision the phone.

Polycom IP Series

  1. From the Main Idle Screen (Where you can make a call), hold down the buttons relating to the phone model listed above until it beeps or says "Enter Password"

    • Models: 321, 331, 335, 450, SoundStation 5000 , 7000 and SoundStation Duo: Press 1, 3, 5, and 7 dial pad keys

    • Models: 550, 560, and 650, and VVX 1500: Press 4, 6, 8, and * dial pad keys

    • Models: 6000: Press 6, 8, and * dial pad keys
  2. Make sure no Asterisks are on the screen, indicating that characters had already been typed in for the password.
  3. If there are asterisks on the screen, press the << softkey to delete them.
  4. Type in the password 8446116110 and press Enter.
  5. Click here to provision the phone.
