These are all steps that you, the owner of the numbers, would need to take to have the SPAM label removed from your numbers. Since each cellular carrier maintains their own database for this, you will need to reach to each of them individually or find out which one that has you marked.

Methods:

There are a number of things that can get your phone number marked as Spam Likely when you call a number. This article will give you tips to stop this from happening and suggestions on companies to contact to try removing the Spam label if it does happen. These all have to be done by the owner of the number marked as spam and has to be done with each carrier separately. This process is by no means definite or guaranteed to work.


The two most common reasons that numbers get flagged as Scam Likely are:

  1. Many carriers will use an algorithm or one of many 3rd party anti-spam apps to detect a high volume of calls being made by the number or there is a sudden change in call behavior on a number (Example: A newly purchased number or previously unused number going from having zero call activity to heavy call activity).
  2. The number had complaints submitted against it by call recipients. These reports can be done erroneously. (Example: Some users might report a number simply because they don’t like being called by a number they don’t recognize.)


Some steps you can take to avoid problems with Spam flags 

  1. Register your number with the Free Call Registry - https://www.freecallerregistry.com/fcr/ and https://www.calltransparency.com/ - This helps register/white-list your numbers with the major carriers and reduces the chances of them being flagged.
    • All numbers and information provided will be shared with all three Carrier Spam Monitoring Partners - HIYA, TNSI and First Orion.
  2. Use good call practices / don’t give call recipients a reason to be upset - Because many numbers get flagged based solely on reports from call recipients, managing their perception of your calls can be important. One of the best ways to avoid being reported is to not participate in behavior that could be perceived as fraudulent or suspicious. Also, avoid activity that would upset someone such as hanging up or calling the same person multiple times a day. 
  3. Ask your customers to save your number - Some third party spam block apps will block unknown numbers. Asking users to save your number will ensure you reach them successfully. 
  4. Rotate the numbers you use to make calls - Because high call volume is one of the most common reason a number gets flagged, rotating between multiple numbers to make your daily calls can be a big help in avoiding issues.   
    • Number rotation can be done manually on your end by reassigning the number assigned to the agent making the calls.
    • You can also use Audian's Dynamic Caller ID feature to set up rules to change the caller ID of outbound calls.
  5. Understand the laws - There are numerous federal, state and sometimes even local laws that regulate telemarketing. Understanding and following these laws will help you avoid having your number marked incorrectly.

What to do if your number is flagged as spam

The quickest way to overcome this issue is to use a different valid Caller ID number, but this may be a very short term solution if you follow the same practices that led to the previous flags.

The good news is that spam flags are often temporary and will resolve if you start to adopt the practices listed above. 

If you find your numbers continue to remain flagged despite following the practices outlined above, you may be able to get the flags removed by contacting the carriers that marked it directly.
