Duo Two-Factor Authentication Set Up

Description:

This article will show you how to do the following:

  • How to enable and setup Duo Two-Factor authentication on your account

Overview

Two-factor strengthens access security by requiring two methods (also referred to as factors) to verify your identity. These factors can include something you know - like a username and password, plus something you have - like a smartphone app to approve authentication requests.

Our Duo integration allows customers to link their corporate Duo instance to our phone portal in order to enforce multi-factor authentication.  There are three main steps to getting this set up: Creating the application in Duo, Linking Duo to the Audian Portal, and finally, Enabling multi-factor authentication on the account.  Once this is completed, users signing in will be required to perform multi-factor authentication as set up in your Duo instance.

Once completed, when you attempt to log into the my.audian.com portal, you will receive a popup to complete this second factor authentication as seen below:

 Creating Application in Duo

Work with your Duo administrator to complete the following steps, noting down your integration key, secret key, and API hostname.

  1. Log in to the Duo Admin Panel and navigate to Applications.
  2. Click "Protect an Application" and locate Web SDK in the applications list.
  3. Click "Protect this Application" to get your integration key, secret key, and API hostname.
    • Note: See Getting Started for help.
  4. Make sure you have the correct Duo policies applied, we recommend requiring two-factor authentication at minimum.
  5. Copy the integration key, secret key, and API hostname to the settings tab of this application.

Note: If you have existing users in Duo that you wish to link to your Audian portal logins, please follow the steps below to alias the Audian portal user ids with your Duo users.

  1. Using the Account Reporting Audian Portal App, export a list of your users with user ids.
  2. In Duo, navigate to the Users section.
  3. Click into the user you wish to add an alias to, and click on the “+ Add a username Alias” button.
  4. Enter the matching user id for this user in the alias field and save the user.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each user you wish to associate.
